Why cutting food costs is the fastest way to increase your Net Profit by ten folds.
Let's take a typical restaurant scenario, considering all the sales coming from selling food (just to simplify):
Total Revenue £100,000 (100%)
Food Cost £25,000 (25%)
GP (Gross Profit) £75,000 (75%)
Now, we all know that a typical restaurant Net Profit (before taxes) vary between 5 and 15% (after wages, bills etc)
Let say 10% for sake of argument. So out of £100,000 we would be left with £10,000 (on a perfect world..)
If you were to switch suppliers, deciding to become our customer, you would immediately save let say, 10% on food cost, instantly increasing your Net Profit by £2,500! (10% saving on £25,000 purchases = £2,500).
But if you wanted to increase your Net Profit by £2,500 by upselling, you would have to increase your revenue by £25,000! (10% Net Profit out of £25,000 = £2,500)
